Turkey rhubarb is a plant that is native to regions of western China, northern Tibet, and the Mongolian Plateau.  Its roots have been used as a purgative for at least 2,000 years, and it was one of the most commonly traded items along the Silk Road.  Turkey rhubarb is still widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its astringent, laxative, and antibacterial properties.
