ElevATP® (Ancient Peat & Apple Fruit Extract)
Background
ElevATP® is a patented blend of ancient peat and apple polyphenol extracts designed to support the body's natural production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary energy currency of every cell. Unlike supplemental ATP, which may have limited absorption when taken orally, ElevATP® is intended to promote endogenous ATP production through the body's own metabolic processes. The ingredient has gained attention in sports nutrition and healthy aging applications for its potential role in supporting cellular energy, physical performance, and exercise adaptations.
Traditional Uses
While ElevATP® itself is a modern proprietary ingredient, its source materials have a long history of use. Apples have been consumed for centuries as a source of polyphenols and antioxidants that support overall health and vitality. Naturally occurring peat-derived minerals have also been studied for their rich trace mineral content and potential role in supporting biological processes involved in energy production. Together, these components provide a unique combination of plant compounds and bioavailable minerals that may help support mitochondrial function and cellular energy metabolism.
What Does Science Tell Us?
Research suggests that ElevATP® may help increase ATP production and support exercise performance. In acute clinical studies, a single 150 mg dose significantly increased whole blood ATP levels compared to placebo, with increases observed within 60 minutes of supplementation. Researchers also reported no significant increases in markers of oxidative stress or lactate production, suggesting improved cellular energy efficiency.
Several resistance-training studies have evaluated ElevATP® supplementation at 150 mg daily over periods of 8 to 12 weeks. Findings indicate potential benefits for lower-body strength, power output, vertical jump performance, and muscle hypertrophy when combined with structured exercise programs. Some studies also reported improvements in muscle cross-sectional area and training adaptations compared to placebo groups.
Although the current evidence is promising, most studies have been conducted in healthy, resistance-trained adults. Additional research is needed to determine whether similar benefits occur in broader populations, including older adults and recreational exercisers.
Safety
ElevATP® has demonstrated a favorable safety profile in human clinical studies. Daily supplementation at 150 mg has been well tolerated, with no significant adverse effects reported in published trials. Researchers have also observed no meaningful changes in blood glucose, lactate, or oxidative stress markers following supplementation. However, as with many newer specialty ingredients, long-term data and research in pregnant or nursing women and individuals with underlying medical conditions remain limited. Individuals taking medications or managing a health condition should consult a healthcare professional before use.
