Green tea, and all true tea (in contrast with herbal tea), comes from a single plant – Camellia sinesis – which is processed in different ways to yield white tea, oolong, black tea, and other varieties. Green tea is native to China and is minimally processed. All tea contains beneficial polyphenols, which have antioxidant and health-promoting properties.
Green tea is used in supplements today for its antioxidant benefits.
