Rhodiola is a perennial flowering plant that grows in cold climates, including the Arctic.  About 140 chemical compounds have been identified in rhodiola, and it is thought to have properties that help protect cells from damage.

It is touted as an adaptogen, helping the body naturally adapt to stress.  Rhodiola has been used for centuries in Scandinavia and Russia to help cope with the harsh and stressful conditions of Siberia, and it is also used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Rhodiola is used in health supplements today enhance energy, stamina, cognitive function, and athletic performance.
